Overlooked Western Battles

The following article addresses the lack of attention given to the battles of the Trans-Mississippi, thought it would be appropriate today since everyone's attention seems to be focused on that small Pennsylvania college town. Also note that a number of the units that made up the Army of Tennessee had their first combat experiences at either Wilson's Creek or Pea Ridge.

Off topic, but I'd like to know where the I could see a bigger version of the picture of the AoT prisoners on the homepage. Best close up view I've seen. My ggg-grandfather, a member of the 25th Ga, was wounded at Franklin and captured at Nashville. I know he's not in the picture, but I'd like to compare what his fellow soldiers look like by 1864 to the picture I have of him in 1861. Any help would be much appreciated.

If Pike could have kept the Indians in line we would have won Pea Ridge. IMO

This is a really good article; for one thing the author doesn't downplay events in other Civil War theaters like you see in so many local history articles.

Yep Battles like the small one at Clarendon and the bigger one at Helena go wanting except for a few local writers.
